Your Role:

We are looking for a Vehicle Systems Architect to lead the development of solutions for automotive data acquisition, with a focus on device-to-cloud and device-to-peripheral communication.

The Vehicle Systems Architect is a critical member of the team responsible for the design, development, and functional verification of a best-in-class vehicle data acquisition, telematics, and data analytics platform.

As a Vehicle Systems Architect, you will work to understand the state of the art in automotive systems, vehicle data acquisition technology, vehicle systems validation processes, and the needs of our customers. You will design and launch new Vehicle Data Recorder (VDR) software features utilizing cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet communication to enable functions such as firmware updates, IoT messaging, edge-to-cloud data transfer, over-the-air (OTA) updates, video (acquisition and automated analysis), and communication with tablet (e.g., Android) peripherals. Experience with communications security (e.g., implementing device-to-cloud communication utilizing mTLS) is paramount.

Your Role:

• Combine market trends, customer needs and product vision into a detailed description of what to build and convey that vision to the rest of the development and coding team.

• Be the main architect for new features by running design meetings, producing formal requirements for software engineering teams, and prioritizing needed sprint tasks.

• Work with program management to track the implementation of software features and ensure milestones and timing are met.

• Develop structured test plans for verification of prototype software applications.

• Conduct engineering tests and coordinate software POCs to analyze the feasibility and applicability of proposed software solutions.

• Triage, root cause and resolve issues.

• Stay current in training in the latest automotive systems technology.

• Be the main point of contact to our internal and external customers, guide them through development lifecycle, and discuss on daily basis their detailed requirements, propose when they are not sure, and manage your product.

Requirements:

• Experience in technical product leadership role.

• Experience producing requirements documentation, use cases, user stories and other artifacts.

• Experience with agile software development process and breaking large projects into manageable pieces.

• Very good leadership skillset, prioritization of work and communication with external stakeholders.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Proven ability to meet commitments and deliver to timelines.

• Strong desire to learn new things, and ability to perform independent product and market research.

• Demonstrable independent problem-solving ability.

• Experience working with remote teams.

What will make you stand out:

• Work within the automotive industry, connected vehicles and vehicle diagnostics.

• Track record of leading software teams on major initiatives.

• Experience with registration, certificate, and authenticated security systems. With AWS a plus.

• IoT related communication including experience with MQTT and AWS IoT services.

• Familiarity with shell scripts and C/C++ application development for Linux.

• Automotive ECU updates / re-flash, Over-the-Air updating, etc.

• Familiarity with microcontrollers and ARM processor.

• Experience with Bluetooth, USB, and Ethernet device communication.

• Developing automotive or similar data analysis, simulation, dashboarding, and reporting solution.

• Embedded applications, particularly in the automotive industry.

• Knowledge of Functional Safety and SPICE processes.

• Experience with CI/CD workflows, Jira, Github.

• Familiarity with cloud-based software architectures from AWS, Azure.
