Senior Python software engineer within the cybersecurity will focus on automation aspects of the cybersecurity team work – extraction of reports about intrusions, missing / incorrect certificates, scripts for validating that our system is protected from well known exploits, etc. The role is an entry into cyber security engineering, with the view to eventually become a cyber security engineer.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will eventually be responsible for assisting the security operations at Aptiv Connected Services. This position will work with multiple teams in performing cybersecurity threat analysis, vulnerability management, risk assessments, and the development of remediation plans. The engineer will also be responsible for recommending and implementing internal information security related tools and automate those tools to streamline processes and improve response times to mitigate risk to the organization and product.
About the company and project:
Aptiv Connected Services is a new, independent division of Aptiv, we have been created from a few startups Aptiv acquired some years back, and our entire division is centered around building two big products, one already in existence which entered continuous development phase, and a new product we are currently hiring for which is a new venture for Aptiv.
The project we are hiring for is an IoT connected edge platform with AI, we are building the equivalent of Android for the telematics market, an open cloud platform, web applications, mobile applications, Edge embedded device architecture, and more. The system has the ability to be connected to the vehicle at all times, it has the ability to troubleshoot data in offline and online mode, sending relevant data onto the cloud where it’s processed further as well as aiding problem root-cause or accident analysis remotely.
Approximately 65% of time include the following:
•Work with the Risk and Compliance manager in conducting audits and risk assessments on Aptiv Connected Services IT systems and business processes
•Monitor threats across multiple platforms to optimize response times to threats and vulnerabilities
•Write scripts for automating security tools to improve efficiency of auditing, monitoring, and alerting of cybersecurity events
•Identify and disseminate key findings from penetration test, vulnerability reports, and outcomes from DAST/SAST/IAST tools to Aptiv Connected Services IT and application development personnel
Approximately 35% of time includes:
Use of trouble tickets for response and resolution
Keep abreast of new security threats and make recommendations on mitigating threats against which may impact Aptiv Connected Services IT resources and intellectual property
Assist with development and maintenance of information security related policies, standards, and procedures
Your Backround:
Experience with information technology best practices
Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux based operating systems
•Scripting or application development experience
Very good knowledge of python, especially python implementation within web architectures, REST communication, OAuth implementation, communication with micro-services, AI, and more.
What will make you stand out:
Experience in threat modeling using STRIDE and the OWASP Threat Dragon tool
Cloud security in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
CISSP, CCSP, CISM, GIAC, or other security certifications
Working knowledge of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10
Familiarity with:
Networking and network protocol analyzers
Authentication systems
Scripting knowledge with Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, SIEM, DLP, DNS
Hardware security modules and PKI
