Job Description for Expert Mechanical Engineer / Tooling expert

You will play a key role in designing Active and Passive Safety products, like radars and PODS sensors for biggest OEMs on the automotive market.

Your Role:

• Plans injection molds, molding equipment and stamping tools as well as the required manufacturing process of parts for new projects.
• Estimates tooling costs and tooling details concerning volumes and lifetime in concept and development phase.
• Supports designers (part design) on molding stamping issues during design phase to get parts designed for manufacturing.
• Prepares with suppliers and design engineers P-FMEA and Tooling FMEA.
• Perform meetings with tool suppliers to define needed technology of the tools based on our specifications.
• Coordinates needed activities for new tools with suppliers and our tool launch center like measurement reports, capability study, sample parts, improvement etc.
• Analyzing customer requirements and assumptions of the concept group
• Defining and verifying components in a product
• Supporting in defining special characteristics in the product
• Supporting the creation and approving of technical documentation (CAD model and technical drawings)
• Participation in the Part and Product Approval (PPAP) process
• Cooperation with other competencies like Manufacturing, Mechanical, Validation, or Quality Engineers
• Communicating with customers and suppliers worldwide

Your Background:

• University degree (mechanics, mechatronics or related)
• Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer or examined technician with 5 years of experience in automotive industry
• Experience in designing mechanical parts, mainly plastic, metal casting and sheet metal.
• Knowledge of dimensioning incorporating GD&T approach
• Knowledge of the DFMEA, SPC, KPC.
• Good experience in manufacturing processes and technology, such as, molding, stamping, painting, laser- etching
• Very good English and communication skills
• Willingness to short business trips

Nice to have:

• Experience in automotive industry
• Knowledge of CAD software (NX)
