Job Description for Product Owner

At Aptiv Gothenburg, we are responsible for the Android development, we support local as well as global vehicle manufacturers (OEMs both in the Car and Commercial vehicle segment), which gives an edge to the day to day development. Android has with an astonishing speed become the leading operating system of in-car entertainment. Increasingly over the last few years, it is obvious that users need to bring their application ecosystem into the vehicle. Aptiv has a unique position in this industry transformation – we are doing it together with partners such as Google.

Your Role

As a Product Owner, BSP Android Team, you have a key role in our development organization. The product area Board Support Package (BSP) Android is an important and central part of our Android platform product. The infotainment head unit system is an Android Linux based system running native or virtualized inside a hypervisor.

It’s a dynamic and broad role in an international environment that includes interaction with many stakeholders, both internally and externally. Internally with team members in other Aptiv technical centers in Europe and Asia. The external interfaces are to our SoC suppliers and OEM customers globally. You will also be involved in our collaboration with Google as a natural part of your product responsibility.

The BSP team is responsible for low-level software modules, board bring up, development of drivers and they are engaged in hardware near debugging. It’s a mature team with good diversity of software engineers who enjoy sharing their knowledge and solving problems together.  

• Own and maintain the Product Backlog.
• Responsible for the internal & external stakeholder communication for the BSP area in our Android platform product.
• Create, maintain and refine product vision and the long-term roadmap
• Participate in the development of acceptance criteria for features.
• Protect the long term technical integrity of the feature/product.
• Understand the scope and need for architectural roadmaps and collaborate with Architects and Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the key technological infrastructures.
• Define the team’s specific objectives for the upcoming Program Increment.
• Play an essential role in Sprint Team Demos as well as Program Increment demos to ensure that it will show the most critical aspects of the solution to the stakeholders.
• Coordinate content dependencies with other POs and all relevant stakeholders.
• Member of the extended Project Management team and review and contribute to the project-level vision, roadmap, and content presentations.
• Have a total responsibility for the Quality of the feature/product/ component.
  

Your Experience And Skills

• Several years of experience from leading roles within a software development organization
• Strong technical background, understanding complex architectural concepts
• Experience and interest in coaching and growing team members
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to stakeholders at all levels
• Experience with agile software development process
• A master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
